BSG animation models

I am having a problem and need some help. The only difference between the two images is first is
using a spot light while the later is using a hemi light. Do I need to add lights inside the helmet or
does my shield material need help?

hmm… If I understood it right, you want the light to go-trough the visor, right? So to do this, you must ofc. activate transparency in visor (I think you’ve done that) and in every material that you want to be seen trough youy must check transparent shadows, somewhere in material… Hope it helped : )

I found if I have the ray shadow set less than black, i can see through the glass. Does this sound right or does the shadow need to be black to be realistic?
