So you want to learn animation, and are looking to find an affordable pc? well turns out we are in the season where upgrading/buying a computer is not very good with the current prices, for example RAM and SSDs are very expensive, specially the RAMs because this AI bubble that uses a lot of RAMs and therefore the prices of current supply is inflated and also shortened production of units…
But to give you info at least on other important components, in the case you had to buy them individually, instead of a prebuilt PC, then here is some things to take into account:
For 3d animation and else related (modelling, texturing, rigging, rendering, etc) you need a reasonably powerful enough PC build, in this case there is 3 components that matter the most, also being the most expensive of course:
A good CPU, my recommendation is to start with Intel’s, there is a lot of generation and 3 main series models but minimum start at i5 or i7, better i7 or i9 series, focus on CPUs from the last decade and not older than that if possible, either LGA socket 1151, 1700 or 1851 (1851 latest socket type for newest processors for pc consumers)
Bear in mind that the latest LGA 1851 intel processors supports DDR5 ram only, while LGA 1700 is DDR4 and DDR5, but also depends on the motherboard model if only supports DDR4 or DDR5 or a hybrid mode besides the CPU socket type. Same for AMD processors, it has its own socket type and motherboards compatible and not interchangeable with intel ones, except the other components (RAM, GPU, other)
For RAM, at least minimum go with 16 GB for blender and else, 8 GB RAM as minimum is little nowdays with process hungry apps and other processes (including blender) that may bottleneck your pc causing it to freeze a lot, or become slow. 32 to 64 GB better but more expensive of course, but if you can afford just the price of 16 GB then buy it as a single stick to get started and when you can, buy another one 16 GB RAM to gain more memory power.
now for GPUs there are many options for pc consumers but for blender is better supported Nvidia Cards at the moment, this doesn’t mean you can’t use other brands, e.g AMD, or intel, or else. For the VRAM of GPUs you will need at least 2 GB VRAM to run Blender, but i recommend you at least minimum 8 GB up to 16 GB of VRAM for more complex scene rendering tasks…
So, to summarize my recommendation of what would you need at least to get started for your first PC build:
One CPU (many variables here like brand, socket type, cores/threads, supports ddr4/ddr5)
One Motherboard usually M-ATX type (micro atx) that is usually more budget friendly than ATX, but also with ATX you can add more RAM and another GPU, but thats overkill for your use case.
One PSU (power supply unit) with enough power wattage for all the components you install.
One stick of 16 RAM DDR4/DDR5 (slot type depending on motherboard and processor support, and for the prices not much you can do about that but wait for a very long time for that to lower if does at all…)
One, GPU 8 GB VRAM (many variables here like brand, generation model, and amount of VRAM of course, and else)
One SSD with 256 GB minimum (512 GB much better) and another SSD or HDD drives for backup/personal files storage (this can be also 500 GB up to 1 TB or more than that if you can afford to)
One Wifi card/usb if you need wifi internet access (btw some motherboards already come with Wifi card integrated)
One HDMI/Display Port Monitor (many variables here like screen size, monitor screen type, and else)
