Bug in mac version of Blender 2.44

Hey guys…

I am using the 2.44 version of Blender on the Intel based Mac. I believe I have encountered a bug. I was storing my data inside a folder called models. That folder was inside another folder called “Lions Gate Screening Room”. I was using the tool like this for quite some time. However, it started crashing unexpectedly. It refused to open or save files… just crash crash crash. When I renamed the above folder name to LGSR, the crashing instantly ceased.

Thoughts?

Joe

Was it because the file characters were shorter? I ask because the previous folder name was longer than what you changed it to - was the folder name referenced in the tmp location in your renders? By files, do you mean blends only, or rendered animations?

Sorry, but I haven’t encountered this problem on mine yet, but before it is misunderstood, my mac is a ppc older g4.

I’ll see what happens when I go home.

My guess is that it either did not like the spaces or the long name.

I am talking about blends. I do not know about the tmp location but it was referenced in the OUTPUT section of the model.

the fact that it was working and then did not sorta indicates something else changed, hence the pointers/thoughts about tmp locations, or maybe directory permissions changed, or something. Curious, because Lions Gate yada yada is not really a LONG file name, i think technically Long is more than 64 characters…but you should be using Relative Paths just in case.

Does it crash if you name the folder “L G S R” ?
