Building & armature aids

Ok I have 2 questions

  1. I have a model that I want to use the ‘build’ animation effect on, I modeled half of it the duplicated it. Now the question is that how do I make the build animation build all the model at the same time instead of half - half?
ie. it builds the part that I modeled first, then the part that I duped only when the first half is finished??
Note: I have tried using the hash button with no effect (in and out of edit mode)

  2. Most other major animating tools (ie maya, softimage etc.) have not only bones (armatures) but also bone guides ie. cubes and rings that guid the bones for easy positioning (have a look at the last few pics on this site to see an example http://10secondclub.org/reviews_content_setup_machine_part_1.html)
Is this posable in blender, and will this be NLA compatable?

An answer to one or both would be great

Use Ctrl-F outside of edit mode.

cool

This builds from the ground up (all at the same time YAY!) … is there a way to make it build randomly (randomise faces??) or from an other direction (eg. sort faces in y?)

There are Hash and XSort buttons in editbuttons, but from memory they only change the vertex order, not the faces.

to change the sorting direction, I’d rotate it in editmore so the appropriate axis is pointing up, press Ctrl+F in object mode and go back into editmode and rotate it back.
