Building my first computer for Blender? Need feedback please?

I heard that I should get Nvidia because it can use the GPU to render.

My current graphics card choice is:

MSI GeForce GTX 770 Twin Frozr 3 2GB GDDR5 (N770 TF 2GD5/OC)

  • 1137MHz Clock, 7010MHz Memory
  • PCI Express 3.0, Dual- link DVI-I, HDMI, Display Port

However people at that site don’t really know about blender and tell me to get this one instead to save a bit of money because that graphics card is an overkill. My question is if I do decide to drop down from 770 to the 760 card. How low will the performance in terms of rendering go down in Blender? Is it worth it. Or should I stick to the 770? Thanks

Here is the 760 card:

MSI GeForce GTX 760 Twin Frozr 2GB GDDR5 (N760 TF 2GD5/OC)

  • 1098MHz Clock, 6008MHz Memory
  • PCI Express 3.0, Dual- link DVI-I, HDMI

So here is the link to my full computer build. I haven’t bought the parts yet.

if you don’t have very good airflow in your case I suggest you buy a back-end exhaust type card !

twin-frozr, windforce and other non standard cooling solutions are primarily for gaming and disipate air inside the case. for rendering this is to be avoided especially if you plan to have 2 or more cards in your case in the future !

760 gets a rendertime of around 1:03 - 1:04
770 gets a rendertime of around 44-50 seconds

These are all approx… its about 20% different. is the spreedsheet i got this info from.
