buildings arent receiving light?

hi, im trying to render an animation and a problem im running into is that parts of the scene look like they are receiving no light at all, ive been messing around with the lights and at the moment i have buildings that are completely dark but then the ground around them and the roofs ontop of them have light. here is a picture of what im getting

everything is on one layer and ive created 4 suns, one in each corner turned down to .3 to see if it was simply the direction of the lights. ive tried quickly to do ambient occlusion instead but i made a mistake somewhere because it didnt light up anything. i should be able to see some sort of light on them with the 4 lights. if anyone has any ideas on what may be wrong i would appreciate it.

The position of a sun lamp doesn’t change the direction of its light, you have to rotate it to achieve that.

sorry if i didn’t make it too clear, i positioned lights in 4 corners and then i rotated them to point inwards, i then rendered a few times in different positions around the scene and none of the buildings receive light it seems

Could be an issue with materials… Could be you need to remove duplicates… Could be a lot of things, I suppose… If you post a blend I’ll take a look (not that I’m saying I’ll find anything).

thank you for the answers, in preparing a version to post a version here i found out that somehow the light was only hitting the top of the buildings and missing the sides because of just the angles of my lights, because of the many buildings involved i cant think of a way to have lights other than ambient occlusion which i will have to figure out why it isn’t working
