Bullet Firing Testing Chamber

Hey I decided to make a scene were a bullet is fired from a rifle and travels though a metal and goes though the other side, and well this is what I got for now. The final render will have a sort of shockwave trailing the bullet, some blur and particles emitted from the metal and better lighting, etc. etc. So any critic from this scene, tips, suggestions?

P.S. Sorry that I didn’t answer my other post. Thanks to the guys that helped me out in creating the bullet!

from what i can tell so far, its gonna be a really cool scene once you get it finished, the barrel looks a little too cartoonish, but other than that, everything else looks good so far

If the tunnel is a tunnel that humans use then the bullet and gun is way to big. Bullet could need some more work too.

Thanks guys. I’m also excited about this scence too! The tunnel is not the ones that humans can go inside, so the bullet is the correct size, as for the bullet, yeah this still needs some more work. It will take a while for me to finish it, then I’ll post it in finished projects

UPDATE!!
I worked on the bullet hole that the bullet made but i’m not getting a good result. The method I’m using is subdividing the plane and moving each vertex using the “o” key, is there another better way?

This is another update on the metal, I worked on it and now it looks way better, the hole is bigger than the bullet on purpose. next thing I have to do is the bits and pieces of the metal in the air.

Usually, metal doesn’t just disintegrate when a bullet goes through it and slugs don’t come out the other end in the same condition it left the barrel in. Also, bullet trajectory is likely to change, but I guess you don’t need to know that unless this is a physics project or something :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: I see you posted an update while I was typing up my post :-?

Explaination of why the bullet hole is so large?

the whole should be about the same size as the bullet and maybe make parts of metal flying out. over all looking good

If this is the same bullet from another thread, it’s a .50, which means it would punch through metal and maintain a pretty close trajectory if it came from the right gun. Still, that metal looks really thick. It would definitely deform though.

UPDATE!
I made the metal a little thinner, added few pieces of debris, made the muzzle a little more interesting and added some particles. the particles aren’t really coming out as I expected but hey it’s a start. Does anyone know how to do a sort of flash for the muzzle?
By the way I don’t think I’ll be posting over the weekend, going to the LA Car Show!!

that looks a lot better, but i agree, if its going through that thing, its not gonna look at all like it is there, and there are probably a lot of pieces of shrapnel from that metal plate too  looks good though, you’re making progress.

The hole in the metal doesn’t look right still, it makes the metal look very thick. Again, the bullet should be deformed from hitting the metal, look up some pictures of fired bullets online.
