The goal is to build a cool ‘Rube Goldberg’ / ‘Incredible Machines’ demo, using Bullet. This time, you can use Blender with Bullet, but also OgreBullet, C4Bullet, IrlightBullet etc, but that requires programming, so I recommend BlenderBullet. Animations of such device by baking Bullet simulation into IPO’s is allowed too!
Incredible Machine:
“Rube Goldberg” who came up with the idea of making very
complicated inventions to do simple things
This video shows a bunch of particularly good ones.
This kind of demo would require a number of simple objects like
dominoes, pendulums, wheeled carts, staircases and other stuff that
could be assembled into complex gadgets.
Oooh great contest idea and great prizes, im definatly going to try and enter this one, haven’t had a good excuse to do any personal work in blender for a while so this is a good incentive.
doh! I just started on the game engine in blender. Been doing blender for a while, but i doubt i´m gonna make this one… But it´l be interesting to see what others do.
btw, is there a good/at all a tutorial on how to use armetures and making the objects cast shadow(s)?
Can i be in, or is it for people who are experienced in Blender Artist?
i had the idea to do this once, in fact i started a thread about it. and i have that incredible machines game, frikkin’ awesome game.
cool ! Don’t know if I’ll have the time to participate, but it’s deffinitely a good idea !
for the story : In nov 2006 I participated in a workshop with Julian Oliver (Fijuu and blender osc guy…) and we made an exercise with just that, except we used ipo to simulate physics in the GE (it was to practice IPO)… this leaded to funny animations .
I’m absolutely in, despite the incredibly small odds I’ll win; I prefer to focus more on having a good time in a game/contest rather than sacrificing everything to win, it makes things much more enjoyable -the means justify the end.
Count me in on this one a chance to get a wii for free PLUS learn more about the game engne OH YEAH cant beat that
I do have a few questions here before i dive in to this?
Can you use the NEW (blender 2.43 RC) or does it have to be the current Offical release 2.42a?
