Is there a way to make a bump map affect the actual mesh, making the mesh have actual geometry? Right now I have a normal bump map applied but when the camera gets around it and the light hits it a certain way the surface looks way to smooth. What can I do?
A bump map just gives the illusion of additional geometry. To create real displaced mesh you need to use your bump map in displacement modifier. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:Manual/Modifiers/Mesh/Displace You need to create a higher res mesh with something like a subsurf modifier to give enough real geometry to show the displacement.
wonderful. This is what I was looking for. Thank you very much.
