Hey, guys and gals
I was trying to figure out bump mapping. I was using gimp. And I found a way to bump map a wood texture. Came out pretty good. I added to texture to my cube in blender, but the effect was not good. Just came out glossy when I rendered it. I did not use UV mapping, but added the texture on the texture tab.
I saw a tutorial to bump map using Blender, but is there a way to use the gimp texture instead. If you have a link to a tutorial on adding bump mapping, I would appriciate it.
It’s the same way, really. Just instead of using a noise/musgrave/XType of image within blender, use an ‘Image’ type, and load in your bump map. Then just follow the tutorial for any other beyond that.
I’m sorry I don’t get it. The tutorial that I was checking was on youtube. “blender bump mapping”. they said to add a texture then add another one on top of that without color and up the noir. Spelled that wrong…But I wanted to see if there was a way to use Gimp’s mapping tool and just place the texture in blender. Getting the same effect…
But I recently am having a problem. Cannot get UV Edit mode. It is missing ( you know where it says object or edit or paint. ect).
