Ok how do you make them and add to object?
Load up your texture and use the normal / displacement mapping.
As to how to make them, fire up your favorite editor, apply a grayscale to the canvas, it’s read by intensity (you can use color’s aswell but easier with grayscale) so white is the most intense and black has no affect.

I think you’re looking for the ‘Nor’ button, not ‘Disp’. Pressing the ‘Nor’ button twice will invert the effect.
Yes. Nor alters the way the normals face, creating the illusion of bumps or whatever. Disp actually displaces the mesh creating “physical” geometry.
