Burst of static when launching Blenderplayer on macOS

I’ve noticed that when I launch Blenderplayer, there is a burst of static, albeit it’s not a loud burst of static its a quiet static burst. My iMac’s speakers are fine, so I guess this is the app causing it.

apple silicon or intel mac? i find even regular blender can often cause a quick burst of audio static on my apple silicon mac.

Apple silicon. I’m not sure why, but it seems to be a minor bug when opening new windows (like Blenderplayer), as it shouldn’t be doing that.

Yup. It’ll also happen when apple silicon crashes on a gpu render for me. This audio static and external monitor flicker have been two unfortunate issues that have marred an otherwise good experience with my apple silicon machine.

I hope thats not a kernel panic! :grimacing: That scares me, as I have had kernel panics on an older 10.6.8 Intel iMac. Fortunately, kernel panics are extremely rare. But, how can rendering with GPU crash a Mac? I mean, the whole scene is drawn with the GPU!

I hope both of these bugs can be fixed someday.

well by crash i mean it errors out, potentially because of being out of memory, or bugs in the metal api. but the net result is blender no longer is able to render until a restart.
