Buying a keypad for my notebook: some questions

Hello everyone,

I’m about to buy an USB keypad for my notebook, as it speeds up using blender, and I’m quite used to using a keypad. My question is: can I use a keypad with blender? The problem is (I think) that turning num lock on on my keypad will make the keys on my notebook keyboard which are assigned to serve as numbers when numlock is on (uiopjkl and m) are quite usefull shortcuts too.

So, does anyone know whether

  • the keypad and my notebook keyboard can use numlock independently
  • I can use the keypad without numlock turned on with blender anyway
  • I shouldn’t buy a keypad?
  • It depends on my notebook/keypad/OS/version of Blender?
