Buzzing sound from GPU / CPU when moving objects in Blender

So I’ve noticed a really strange buzzing / static sound when moving objects in blender,
I’ve taken a short video demo while holding my phone over my laptop where the GPU / CPU are.

I’m running a Zephyrus G15 , RTX 3060, Ryzen 9 5k, 16 GB RAM

The buzzing is very quiet, sounds slightly lower than the laptop fans on 2.8k RPMS, but still when everything is quiet it’s quite noticeable, and slightly concerning.

I haven’t noticed this running video games, or any other program… only Blender - Also the buzzing sound seems quieter when I use Rendered view than on Solid view.

Has anyone had this problem before / heard of this kind of problem? figured i’d ask here first before I start the process of trying to explain this to customer support at Asus.

I couldn’t pick it up on the video, but my guess would be coil whine. I ran a vega64 egpu with my previous laptop, and I could hear some coil whine when navigating the viewport in blender.

mm is this something I should be concerned about? (yeah gotta turn the volume up :S it’s quiet but it’s there!)

Coil whine isn’t a bad thing per se, it’s not going to hurt anything, it’s just the price you pay for doing intensive work on a laptop

Hmm. If its really coil whine and too annoying, have a look here. (fps capping or undervolting)

Have you found a solution? I have a desktop also rtx3060 and ryzen5 and it makes noise while moving objects too

Pinpoint the source first, could be GPU, PSU or even an old HDD.

G’day mate, so this was from my laptop, seems like it was normal / harmelss, 4 years later that laptop is still kicking with 0 issues, however I have upgraded throughout the time to a 4070 rtx desktop and even there I notice a quieter whining noise - however It’s farther away from me so I don’t hear it as much, seems to be normal (?) laptop is around 5 years old now and PC is about 2 or 3 years old, been doing blender forever & both still run perfectly.

Well the solution is going to depend on what is causing the sound. If it’s the HDD then it’s near the end of its lifespan. GPU and PSU is either coil whine or a dusty fan that makes noise when it ramps up (Could also be caused by CPU fan now that I think about it). PSU isn’t worth poking around in due to shock hazard from the capacitors. GPU coil whine can be solved with padding but depends on how comfortable you are with opening your GPU.
