BVH/Model compatibilty

Hi guys,

I posted this up a few days ago but when it didn’t appear i found out it’s probably due to the fact i was linking to something.

I was just hoping someone could take the time out to tell me if the BVH data i had would be compatible with the Ludwig model i had downloaded? I was having alot of difficulty rigging it past the shins and was wondering if it’s actually possible.

Because of the link error, if you’re interested in helping me, i can PM the link? i Hope

Thanks a mill guys!!

More than likely not.

That is the problem with BVH. It represents a specific skeletal design. The data you have may or may not have extra bones or be missing bones that are in the Ludwig model.

Also, if the BVH data was generated by Endorphin, there is a serious bug in the rest-pose portion of Blender that prevents using data from that system.

If the BVH came from Poser you are probably better off exporting Ludwig in a T-pose and bringing that model into poser and using it there.

Where did your BVH data come from?

I was using a MoCap suit so all my data came from there. I have the moven files as well as BVH data. I had heard about the endorphin bug so i stayed away from it.

Does this mean i can’t rig a model to my BVH data without designing a model for it’s specifics? :frowning: (really not good at modelling)

You might do better to “massage” the MoCap data into the bone names for the Ludwig rig. It’s mainly a naming issue with the data.

Have you tried importing the BVH file you have generated from the MoCap data into Blender? Does it have any rest-pose problems?

Thats what i was trying to do and i kept getting confused with the difference between the joints. :frowning:

I’ve been importing the BVH file into Blender with no real issues but as far as i’m aware it has no major issues. the only one is the fact the first frame always is way out of sync with the rest of the animation
