Inside the mines of Moria, a young Orc imagine distant places and play to build a model of Minas Tirith. He dreams of a imminent future where he can have this city really before their eyes … in a way, something like an allegory about our dreams of youth.
The work has been done with Blender 2.5 (modeling, sculpting, composition, lighting, rendering and post-production with nodes). For the textures and final details of post-production I have used Gimp 2.6.
Seriously sweet! Amazing, clever and … wow! I can’t stop looking at it, unbelievable! I just love how all the elements work! I want to meet him! I’d give more then 5 stars too if I could.
I don’t think anything needs to change… but IF you were looking for feedback the only thing I would note would be to soften he shadows cast by the candle light (and not too much). I’m still in awe at the chemistry of this render. It feels like a still from a full length movie too!
Thank you all for your comments, I especially liked that you have found the image as “seriously sweet”. The atmosphere, lighting and even the character, were intended to convey that kind of feeling, so in that sense, I am satisfied.
Indeed, small changes could be made DOF, SSS or shadows, but there comes a point where it is due to conclude the testing, especially if your girlfriend finds you’ve reached a pretty picture.
