Cal Kestis is easily one of my favorite Star Wars characters, and I love the art style of Star Wars the Clone Wars, so I took a stab at creating Cal in the same style. Everything here is rendered in EEVEE.
The model can be adjusted to include or disable the poncho and climbing claws. The poncho is partially a cloth simulation.
The entire process took about 6 months. This is only the second complete character I’ve ever created, so I was a bit slow, but I learned so much.
Most of the time was spent on the rig, which is a heavily modified rigify rig. The rig now has 1,297 bones.
I set a custom property for the lightsaber with 5 stages of damage which change the geometry, textures, and rig.
This is one of the 36 textures that were hand painted in Photoshop.
