Calendar cover art

This is the cover art for a calendar I’m designing. It’s pretty much finished but there are a few things I’m not quite happy about, ie…something is not right with the tacks and a few other things.

I was hoping to get some feedback from you folks on how it could be improved.

What the finished product will look like. (maybe)

c&c welcome

thanks

Blend file

oops, lol when I first read it I thought the tittle read “Diversity Control”

I think it’s pretty good, the thumbtacks look too fake, add spec or even make them semitransparent

The shadows are way too far under the thumbtacks, and the banner paper at the top is too smooth. Otherwise looks all right.

Is it just me, or are there no pins (the silver part of the tacks)? Also, did you composite the “Diversity Council” onto the image instead of use it as a texture? I think it would look like it fits more if it was textured (it would get shaded that way, tweak emit to get it readable). Also, I don’t thinki that the “2006 Calendar” text should get split up… it just doesn’t look right.

I agree with the shadows comment, but, other than that, I think it looks pretty cool.

Thanks!

The “Diversity Council” banner is a procedural like all the pics. but you’re right it does seem a little faded. That could be from the lights too. (I’m still learning to use them) I think you hit it with the tacks also, the pins seem to be missing :o …I’ll have to look into that!
