Cam cap and some kind of parent

Hi,

I’ve build a funny little character with a 3ps cam control, but i need help with two things:

I want to have the cam capped, so that you cant move it under the flour, and reverse the controls(so when you move the mouse up, the cam moves down)

I want that when you move the player (wasd), the cam moves with it but when you turn, the cam should not change position(just like most thirtpersonshooters). (this would probebly be a easy fix, parenting or so, but I really can’t figure out how:o…)

plz help paashaasjes

Anyone plz!!!

(I figured out that I do not need limits, I just parented a invisible cube to the cam!) lolz

BUT I CANT FIGURE OUT HOW TO ATTACH THE CAM TO THE CHARACTER!!

Plz help…

PLZ!

Second is easy. Just parent your camera with vertex parenting.
First one depends on your setup. I can’t read it from here.

You could use the camera actuator.

Or you look at the FreeViewControl. This prevents any move-through of collision objects, such as floor, walls, whatever.

Thx for the FreeViewControl, I’m trying it right now…

But the vertex parenting won’t work for me…, I followd a few tutorials but still don’t get it…, blender keeps saying: Select either 1 or 3 verticies to parent to…

btw: thx for the reply!

Do what it says:

select both Objects, the parent as last Object
edit mode
select one vertex
<ctrl+p>
object mode
done

THX A LOT!!!,

The problem was that I selected one face, not one vertex LOL

But it works now!, thx!

I will continue to follow you tutorial, but I don’t have much time this week, so in about a week I hope to have a capped mouselook!

Thx for everything,

paashaasjes

btw: nice tut!!!
