I’m looking for a crane model that I can use for attaching my camera to. My thinking is that I will get more believable camera movement if I mimic a real-world model.
I guess the model isn’t as important as having a [constraint?] system in place with controls for camera height, tilt, and pan.
yes, and all of those are controllable with IPO curves. Pay attention to the curve point handles; adjusting them off the default has a radical improvement on believability. Also, keep moves simple and fluid;a lift with a zoom out is a believable takeaway, but a lift and tilt and a zoom in is not something you would want to do (unless you were simulating a noob helicopter pilot takeoff or just wanted to make everyone airsick).
