when you open up a file in 2.49 from 2.5
and save it as a 2.49 file
you don’t get the camera working normally
so how do you correct the camera to use the F12 render?
Thanks

What exactly is wrong?
more specifics please.
(btw if you just got a black screen like i did, uncheck: do sequence, and do composite)
no only thing is that when i press on F12 it does not render!
don’t know seems to be a difference in camera assigment between 2.5 and 2.49 may be
but how do you cocrect that
try t0 make a simple file with camera + empty tracking in 2.5
and open it up in 2.49 then try to render!
it does wokr for me !
but then how do you change it to make it work?
i tried to re select the camera and render and nothing - blank black screen!
Thanks
It is probably better not to open 2.5 files with 2.49
Use append instead.
Edit - Did you check the clipping values?
here 2.29 file
check it out if you find something special please let me know!
try do a render and this gives black screen !
it works in 2.5 and clipping values seems the same!
Thanks happy 2.5
As organic said, it is better to append and NOT open a 2.49b blend into 2.5 and vice-versa.
I noticed that unfortunately :
-Opening a 2.49b blend into 2.5 will ruin the sculpt menu (every brush disappear, only the draw one is left)
-Opening a 2.5 blend into 2.49b ruin the camera/render. as you noticed (black screen whatever light source it is)
It is very recommended to File -> Append -> select the blend -> Object -> Name of your object to load a model from 2.5 to 2.49b or 2.49b to 2.5
Only by doing that i managed to port my 2.49b mesh into 2.5 without ruining the sculpt menu, or port my 2.5 ones into 2.49b without ruining the rendering ability.
In blender 2.5 the ‘Do Sequence’ and ‘Do Composite’ are both selected by default. Therefore in 2.49 you’ll have to deselect them if you don’t intend to use either option. In your blend it’s assuming you want to render from the sequence editor.
ok if i remove this sequence it’s beginning to work
but een after doing a render we can see the screen is still quit black
so i guess yo also ahve to bring back some sky light cause 2.5 use a rather dark global light
where normally in 2.49 the sky or enviro light is relatiely high
sorry to ask but i almost never use the sequence thing in 2.49
i’m not yet into animation or very little
sequence is associated with baking or may be video making i guess here!
but when you have this sequence activated to make it work you’d need to bake it may be to get a render
or what’s the reason it does not render !
Thanks
