Camera loosely track object?

I saw a video describing how to do this, but now I can’t find it.

Basically what I want to do is set up a camera to track an empty. And I can do that. But the camera locks precisely on the empty and it looks too perfect. How do I make the camera track the empty less perfectly?

Thanks!

ps Anyone know the video? Chrome ball rolling down a slide into green paint?

Have you tried reducing the influence and seeing what that does? If that’s not enough you could introduce a noise modifier, perhaps?

Yes I tired reducing that and the result was that the camera would start to point sea from the empty but it would be locked in at that value. More like a fixed offset than an area that the point was allowed to wander.

Maybe it would help if I outlined how I have it set up.

The camera has a locked track constraint pointed at the empty. There’s also a damped contraindications as well. This was the only way I could get the camera to track upright. Do I have too many constraints?

DruBan… you were exactly right. I found the video and all he had set up was a Limit Distance constraint and a Damped Track.

Damped track angles my camera oddly so I still need to figure that out. At any rate, I remembered the affect differently than the video showed it.

Here’s the video in case anyone wants to look.
