Camera Markers aren't working in animation playback

Hi all,

First of all, I’m using Linux Mint 19.3 and Blender 2.82a.
Everything works great but the markers are having none of it.
I have followed multiple tutorials and guides which basically say to do the same thing.
Get 2 or more cameras into a scene, position them then in the time line press ‘M’ or go to Marker and with the desired camera selected choose ‘Bind camera to marker’. I prefer the bind camera to marker method because it adds the marker and the name of the camera on the timeline without having to hit CTRL+B with both selected.
However when I play the animation back, it only plays the whole animation on the currently selected camera and the markers have no effect on the marker cameras.
Is it because of Linux and Blender? I have other weird things where my edge loop select will not work either.
But if anyone has stumbled across this issue and if there is a workaround, please let me know. It would be greatly appreciated.
