camera pan

i want to do a camera pan around a building.is the best way to do this by using a curve and parent it to a camera and then rotate the camera etc at different frames. :-?

I don’t know what your level is, so here is the method I normally use step by step:

Add >> Curve >> Bezier Circle
Exit edit-mode (TAB)
Scale the bezier circle (S-key) and place it with its center at the center of your building (G-key)
Select your camera (RMB)
Select the bezier circle (RMB) while pressing SHIFT

You should now have your camera selected (in pink) as well as the bezier circle (in a brighter pink)

CTRL + P >> Follow Path
Deselect everything (A-key)
Select your camera and place it at the starting place of the bezier circle (this is where the dashed blue line originates)
Add >> Empty
Place the empty at the center of your building (G-key)

Select your camera (RMB)
Select the empty (RMB) while pressing SHIFT

You should now have your camera selected (in pink) as well as the empy (in a brighter pink)

CTRL + T >> TrackTo Constraint

That’s it; you’re done. Press ALT+SHIFT+A to preview the panning.

If you wish to adjust the time the camera takes to pan around the building:
Select the bezier circle (RMB)
Go to the editing buttons (F9)
Change the ‘PathLen’ in the ‘Curve and Surface’-tab

I hope that answers your question. If not; don’t hesitate to say so.
