Can a rim light affect only my main object in my scene and not my floor?

Hello there,
I have a scene with a tree and a floor. Now i want the rim light only to affect the tree and not the floor.

Is there any possibility for that?

Can i say to an object or material, not to be affected by a specific lamp?
Cause i do want the floor to be affected by the other lights from my 3point lighting setup.
I hope somebody can help

Yes, could move the lamps and the object on their own layers, have the rim light to be on both layers and then enable ‘this layer only’ option for the lamp.

Cube is on layer 1, floor is on layer 2, lamps are on layer 11. Blue light is on both layer 1 and 11, only affecting the cube.

Jeez, had me going there for a while until I realized it was BI
If Cycles, and although I haven’t tried yet with objects, only for light pass rendering, you may want to check out this thread.
Sorry, but it’s not exactly an easy process.
