Can an area light Curve?

Hello everyone!

I am running into an issue or two and need some advice.

There was another post that had 2 great videos to light a room… excellent videos, thanks to the person posting them… I have been following these videos and having issues. I do not need a video about how to light a room but how to fix the problems below.

1st Issue: I need to get pass-through light into a cured window. Can an area light be curved to fit this shape?

Currently, it is a double pane glass as I cut the mesh in the wall and assigned it a new material of Glass. I have done that for both sides but cannot get light to pass through. The rest of the windows are Archipack windows. But again, I am having issues getting light to pass through any glass in this file. :frowning:

The curved mesh is glass as seen below…

But notice to the right, I have lost the check boxes to make a portal. But it is there when I use another project…

Can I get that back in my diner file and how? EDIT: Skip this! It came back when I went from Evee to Cycles. Noobie mistake… Ooops

One last thing. I get this error opening this file but no other file…

Could this cause issues with my lighting or if nothing else, the ability to get my portal checkbox back?

HELP!!! :scream:

  1. You can replicate to Alt+d as shown in the image.
  2. You can use Light Path.

  1. Make an Area Light again (This could be a UI problem. It can be recovered by UI initialization)

  2. I think it’s a problem with some, but I don’t have any clear information

I had wondered about creating a few lights like above however I was worried about seems in the light. Being new not really knowing a lot about Blender lighting… I come here.

Thank you Kim. I will give this a shot. :+1: :+1:

For files that cause UI problems, please uncheck Load UI and open the file.

That is needed for your Rigify Rig to function on that character I see…just click allow…
It is not recommended to check Permanently allow as that can lead to possible problems or even virus intrusion if the file was from the net…

Wonder why that is popping up now. All the rigging on the characters in the scene are imported from the reallusion plugin, not rigify. I am not to a point where I can build characters yet, maybe I should just disable that.

Thanks.

It will usually pop up on any character with a Rig…and real illusion will also cause it to pop up…
And it is better to let it run if you want to pose that character later on…

There’s information in the manual :slightly_smiling_face:
Scripting & Security — Blender Manual

Thanks… I was also a bit incorrect above as well… The Reallusion plugin does use some sort of rigify type thing. I did notice that yesterday when playing with my models. I am not sure if their own or if it works of the rigify plugin.

I guess I was concerned as I have used these characters in other projects and do not get this message in those files. And I never used rigify by itself… always with the reallusion plugin.
