Can anyone help me render my blender animation?

I recently made a blender animation and it is taking a while to render the animation. I have even reduced the number of samples to 10, yet it might take more than 30 hours to render. If possible, can someone please help me with it? I do not have enough money for a paid render farm and the file size is too large for Sheep-it render farm.

What’s your hardware?

I have an I5 - 1240P, 16 GB RAM and a RTX 2050 laptop gpu.

And what’s your animation time?

It’s a total of 1100 frames at 30 FPS. 1920 x 1080. And the sample size is at 10.

No wonder why it’s gonna take like you said around 30 hours so. It’s up to your hardware as well. You may try to lower your resolution down to something around 720p, but at the same time I’m not sure whether it’s gonna help you or not.

You have to either buy yourself a new hardware or to use a cloud render farm

Hope it helps

Cheers,
Sergey

Okay. I will lower the resolution and see. One last question, will Optix help with render time reduction? Thank you for the help.

Kinda, but at the same time do not rely that it would help you A LOT. OptiX is newer than CUDA and supported only by RTX graphics cards. Optix uses your RTX cores to improve performance and actual render time and reduce actual latency.

Okay. Thank you for your help, I will look into it.

If you’re on Cycles, you can also turn on Noise Threshold option. It’ll will add some amount of noisiness to your scene and thus it’ll reduce actual render time.

Noise Threshold

Next thing you can do is to switch from CPU to GPU in your Device settings under Scene options.

Hi, another option that sometimes is overlooked in cycles is the simplifier, it enables you to adjust the render texture size limit and the particles / subdivisions amounts.

Can you share some of your favourite stills from your animation?

It’s a spider man animation I have been working on. My favorite one would probably be when he is getting ready to dive off a building.

You can post images on this forum by just dragging it from your file browser to the reply text field.

I will, I am just waiting for it to render the animation, I am gonna try Eeve again and see. By again, I mean by the quality of it. Once it’s done, I will.

Are you rendering the whole thing at once?
Its much safer to render as frames and then convert them into a video. And you can set it to render some more every night - or when you are out…

There’s a fun way to use Ai
It’s a method of skipping frames, rendering them, and then using Ai to create between them.
※ We don’t know how stable the results will be.

So a few things, even tho your hardware isn’t the greatest, there’s still a few things one can do for faster Cycles renders.

Always render an animation to still images if you aren’t already. Aside from a number of advantages, it means you don’t have to render it all at once.

Since you have a RTX GPU (sure not the greatest), always use OptiX, it will be much faster, or at least it should be, unless something else is wrong.

One of the biggest things that impacts render time is number of lights, so make sure you only have what you need.

Another couple of things, especially for animation rendering, use Persistent Data, unless you hit memory issues.

Also, you can decrease light bounces from the default.

Try total at 6, Diffuse and Glossy at 3, Transmission at 6 and transparent at 4. Then only increase if you notice issues. You’ll need to so a few test renders at various stages of the animation to make sure all is OK.

Lastly, maybe find a friend with a more powerful desktop PC. You can download and run a portable version of Blender on a USB stick, just save out the Blender file with everything it needs packed into it and away you go.

Consider: Thirty hours to render as is on your computer versus days of finding and working with someone to render it for you on their fast computer. Which is faster? Days or hours?

The most effective way to render faster is to use eevee. If you are using cycles do you really need it for your project?
