can blender make feathers?

hi eveyone
i’ve been asked to make a dragon with feathered wings click here to see her. but can blender make feathers?

Just search the forum for feather and you’ll get quite a few results, it depends what you want the feathers to look like and waht you’re going to do with them (still, animation etc)

i gave this a try but i found it only looked good side on. i made a single feather using particals, duplicated it afew times the tryed to join them together but i lost the particals. how do i duplicate it without losing the particals? or is there a better way? i do intend on animating the dragon if that helps.
