Can honey bee colony simulation be done in Blender?

I am fairly new to blender and I want to simulate an environment of bees flying in and out of a bee hive, collecting nectar from flowers which are randomly placed in the environment and go back to the hive. In the hive, a few bees should be simply flying around.

Can this be done in blender? Can someone please guide me.

The part of Blender you are looking for is called a particle system (the bees are particles) and the physics setting you want for that particle system is called boids. Boids will allow you to give your particles a sort of Artificial Intelligence to their movements. Whether this intelligence will be enough to simulate the behavior you want, I don’t know, it depends on exactly what you have in mind. Take a look at some of the animations done using boids to get a better idea of their capabilities.
