Can I load a Blender file without loading the window and panel layout?

I use Blender on two Mac systems. One has a larger 4K curved monitor. The other is an older iMac with a built-in 2K monitor and a 1K 16:9 beside that. I’ve created startup.blend files on each system to give me a window and panel layout in Blender that is perfect for me on those systems.

The problem is if I create a new file on my 4K screen and save it, then find out I need to do quick editing on it when I’m down in the barn and about to print it, when I load it into Blender on that system (the iMac with a 2nd monitor), Blender will close my 2nd window on the side monitor and give me the layout for the 4K monitor. I get this is normal Blender behavior - when you save the file, it saves all the window layouts. Most of the time that’s a good thing.

I can’t be the only person, though, that wants to edit Blender files on different computers, or collaborates with others who have different setups to use for their systems. Is there some way I can load the data from a file without loading the window configuration and layout?

turn this off in prefs before you load the file (if you’re drag n dropping)

or

turn this off when you load the file (if you use open file)

Yes. I drag and drop a lot and open a file from the recent files list, so that does it for me.

I was pretty sure Blender would have a switch like this, just wasn’t sure what terms to use while searching for it. Thank you.
