Can I use an f-curve to create a splash?

I’d like to coordinate a splash to happen with a series of audio queues. It’s something like a dancing water fountain. I want water to quickly spurt out and then stop. It’s happening too often to keyframe manually, but I cant seem to get an f-curve to control when an inflow object is active.

I realize could have it constantly active, and just apply the curve to the initial velocity, but then I’m constantly creating water that isn’t needed for the scene. Baking and rendering it would probably just crash blender for me… I’m a beginner. Ideas or helpful links are greatly appreciated!

Hi, There is a setting in the container/domain to let the water flow out.
if you want to keep some of the fluid add a outflow object.
You can also uncheck the front, back, left and right of the Domaine.
