Can I use an image map for reflectivity and gloss in Blender Internal?

Title asks it all pretty much.

I knew that, I was wondering if there was another way and if perhaps it supported gloss maps.
no gloss map then?

The only way to get gloss hardness maps in BI (if you’re meaning raytraced reflections) is to hack it together using its node system capabilities.

Create two identical materials, one with sharp reflections and one with blurry reflections, and combine them with a texture. This may sound a little convoluted, but BI does not have a clean way to do such an effect.
