i checked tutorials and i don’t know what i did wrong. in the file, the object on the left is my attempt, and on the right is somebody else’s uv unwrap job. can you tell me what to do to make it like the wrap on the right please? i’m a beginner
First of all, apply your object’s scale. It’s non-uniform (squashed on X axis) - this affects unwrapping tools. Although…
…second of all, the one on the right is nothing more than Project From View. Look at your object from side view, select all faces and call that operator. Afterwards, if you need to squash it horizontally as on the right object, you can just scale UVs on the X axis in the UV editor.
Project From View doesn’t care about scale, but still, when modeling and unwrapping, best to keep your scale uniform (and even better - unit: 1, 1, 1). Non-uniform scale affects various tools, adversely.
how do i make the left object be like the right then?
how do i call the faces operator? i’m a beginner so i have no clue what to do to make the object project from view
Ahh the internet!
Also as Stan_Pancakes mentioned, apply scale before you do any form of unwrapping.
