Can these fibers be recreated with Geometry nodes?

Hi, I wander if it is possible to cover an object with these fibers using Geo nodes or other method? Thanks in advance.
Please see image:

Take a look at Thomas Kole’s cobweb generator;

Thanks for the link, but this didn’t work for my needs.

Hello !

Well it’s very likely that it’s doable, but hard to tell you exactly how without getting more information.
Also how much accurate you want it to be ? You’ll have to learn about how it’s exactly structured to recreate than in GN instead of faking it with maybe a simpler method if you want something very close…

The first thing I would do, is to try to draw what you’re after even if it’s schematic. Maybe you take the 3D object render in Krita and start to lay the structure on top of it. By doing so you’ll be forced to think about how those two connects and came up with a simplified version that can be a basis for your work in GN.

I won’t lie by telling you that it’s going to be simple, it looks challenging but if you have some experience in GN that could work. If that’s not the case then it might be too complicated.

Other options might be a texture if it’s seen from a distance, if it’s a close up maybe it’s possible to draw the main structure in yellow :

And use GN to add smaller treads around to add details ( in brown), in any case to me it’s something you’ll have to study for yourself and there isn’t a simple 5 step way to make that which would fit any possible situation sadly !

Thanks for taking the time to look at it, The wireframe is not the problem its the thin fibers wrapped round it. I might end up using textures for that not sure yet. Thanks anyway.

Ok i have found two very useful tutorials that combined should get me
closer to the model i need. One is using the bouncy spline, which after all these years i have never new exists. And the other is a geometry node tutorial. I am posting these here to help others in their projects.
Thanks every one for your help.

You can also make yr own bounce fiber in geonodes.

bounce fiber.blend (102.1 KB)

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I will look into this node soon.

Also noticed if you use a points in volume, method, like this, you get more of a grid like structure, (because of the voxels) which may be better suited to yr reference.

Hope that helps more…

That might get me closer thanks. I really need the curves/fibers to warp themselves round a spiral with variations.
I got closer to with the bounce spline but it sims to stop short of the amount i need.

This was made with two structures; one with wireframe and the other creates the fibers on it’s surface. Probably will end up doing several layers.

Looking good.
