Hello,
I’ve been using Blender 2.46 for a while now, and I just (finally) upgraded to 2.49. In 2.46, you could change the mesh “inside” an object in the mesh tab. For example, you could create an empty mesh object, and then “fill” it by selecting another mesh from the drop-down menu in the “Links and Materials” pane of the Editing panel.
Is there any way to change the mesh “within” an object in Blender 2.49? I can’t for the life of me find it.
THANKS,
Mark
Sorry. I never used 2.46. So I can not related this to the earlier version. But the way it works in 2.49 is you press F9 or hit the little icon to go to the editing panels. There you’ll find the Links and Materials tab, In Object mode you can use the drop down list to change the mesh of the object.
It is also very easy to do this in 2.5x. There are very similar icons across the top of the default screen set up to the right of the 3D view where by default the “properties” window is.
Might be worth giving the latest 2.56a a shot if you are upgrading now rather than going to 2.49.
I am a bonehead. I have actually been using 2.55 (with Freestyle NPR), but I had the same problem with 2.49 and I thought I might have better odds of getting an answer to the 2.49 question.
The only change from 2.46 is that there is no longer a pane labeled “links and materials”, and that the mesh selection drop-down list (just to the left of the object’s name in the mesh editing panel) no longer displays the name of the mesh. Instead, you have to click the upside-down triangle mesh icon, and then substituting meshes works exactly as before.
Thanks, Richard.
You’re welcome. Glad you got it sorted.
