Hi I am new to blender. Can you use blender to make cartoons. If so are there any tutorials and where can I find them. I was also wondering if there were tutorials anywhere to show how to use blender to make art. Thank you
sure you can ,if you actually care read all the blender tuts created by thousands of people who spent hours and hours writing and publishing them on wiki pages ,youtube ,vimeo ,blender cookie, hoping that you would google “how to make cartoons in bllender”
Blender has several different so-called “shaders,” which can dramatically affect how an image appears. For example, I once made a short motion-graphic where the three-dimensional logo cross-faded into a flat line-drawing version of itself. This second piece of material was done by using the “Toon shader” on the original model in its final position. The “drawing” perfectly matched the 3D object because … it was the 3D object. (It just didn’t look like it anymore.)
Now… bear in mind that with any computer endeavor, the first and most important consideration is choosing “the right (for you…) tool for the job.” If what you are dong is principally 2D animation, Blender might not be that tool-of-choice (for you). You’ve got a lot of things to choose from, open-source and otherwise. Choose well.
There are a lot of learning resources available, for example in the blender eshop. I also plan to make a little introduction tutorial for animation soon, check out my website: http://ivogrigull.com
Great, thanks. I don’t know anything about blender and there is so much information its hard to sift through it all. I tried doing searches and all I found is using 3d models to animate nothing on cartoons that fit what I am looking for. I will check out your site. Thanks
Thank you. I will search 2d cartoons. I have done some searching and all I could find are tutorials on 3d cartoon characters. There is alot of information out there and it’s hard to know the right phrasing to search since I am new to blender. Thank you
