Can you move bones along an axis as they rotate?

Hello.

Is it possible to have a bone move along an axis as it rotates?

e.g. I have a shoulder that I would like to “raise” as the angle changes (


Is this something that an action constraint could solve? I’ll admit I am quite lost as to how to set these up.

Or is there another way to solve this issue?
