Can you set up the 'C' command so that it turns-off after you finish selection?

… after a single LMB click.

I’d prefer it, if the C/Selection mode would stay on during holding the C key, and would turn off on release… Going to the ESC everytime is kind of tedious.

Just a thought.

Why are you using the Esc key ? Just press RMB to accept selection.

If you really want C to toggle on/off circle selection then in the user preferences / input panel change the cancel option from Any RMB to keyboard C or alternatively LMB doubleclick, whatever you prefer
