It’s quite elaborate for a first ever project! (Mine was a gingerbread man, so you see… You start from much higher… 
)
But why not show us an actual render instead of the viewport?.. Also, have you tried using Cycles instead of Blender Internal? I think your shadows would look a lot cooler!
Keep it up! You’ll be a pro in no time!
