Cannot download Blender.

I’m trying to download Blender and I’m using the Windows 64 bits download. When it is finished I click the program to bring it up and it says something about it cannot run and Win32. I’m using Windows XP. Am I using the wrong download?

Are you running a 64bit version of Windows XP. If not you will only be able to use the Win 32 bit version of blender.

I’m not sure and I don’t know where to check. /is a newb

I would suspect most home user versions of XP would be 32bit but this link shows you how to find what version you are using.

If this is not possible, just download the 32bit version of blender and see if it works.

Okay, I followed the steps on the Windows website to see and I think I’m running the 32.

Downloaded the 32 bit version and it’s working just fine! Thank you very much. I would also like to ask what is Python and why do I need it in my computer for Blender?

Python is a programming language which allows users to extend the functionality of blender. The various Addons are written in python. Blender comes installed with python so there are no additional installs required unlike previous versions of blender. A lot of blender itself is written in python such as the user interface.

Okay, thanks again!
