Can't acheive soft/smooth results using softbody collision.

I’m trying to have an object (high poly/smooth) collide with another high poly/smooth object, but no matter what I do, the results are not pretty.

I’ve played with some of the settings, I’ve applied SubSurf, I’ve changed the order of the modifiers, I’ve tried many things, but the SoftBody object does not give me the effect that I want.

Upon impact, the mesh starts to look like sharp shards of glass are coming out of it, instead of the smooth effect that I want. And if I play with the effect too much, some settings just cause the objects to pass through each other, even though the “probability” is set to 0

I’ve also tried to “fake” the same effect using cloths but it’s a big mess with pinning so I rather just stay with SoftBodies for the time being.

Please help : P
thank you so much

but the SoftBody object does not give me the effect that I want.

I suppose we’ll just have to use out imagination or just try and guess what you want.
Is it so difficult to show screenshots or attach your blend file with a clear description of what you want. It’ll make it much more helpful for other users help you out, rather than make it as difficult as possible for them.

Sorry Richard, I’ll attach a screenshot or a .blend file as soon as I get home. (working)

The plane is high poly with softbody applied, and Suzanne is just a collision object, animated from point A to Point B to hit the plane.

If you look around the hit area, it isn’t smooth at all, no matter what I try.
I just want to make it smooth.

I can apply the modifier (softbody) and go into edit mode, select all, “w” then shade smooth. But that does not apply the animation, it only applies it to the frame I’m on.

Thanks

mesh>faces>shade smooth ( in 2.56 )
and has nothing to do with soft bodies
