Can't exit circle select mode

I cant exit circle select. Ive tried pressing C again, Esc, clicking off in the distance, right click in the distance etc. You can see in the GIF that as soon as I leave box select mode, I am right back in circle select. I also cant click on menu items without hitting “esc” first sometimes.

I am on 2.8 12-29. I just installed that and was previously on the 12-16 version, but todays update didnt solve it.

You’ve got the Circle Select tool activated in the toolbar on the left.

Oh wow, I didnt even realize you could change the selection mode in that top toolbar icon!
