Ive saved my animation a bunch yet I cant find the blender file! Doesn’t even show up in my recent opened files, nothing!
Hello. If you’ve accidentally deleted your blend file and you didn’t saved backups, then there’s not really anything you can do.
If you had the User Preferences setting Save Versions enabled, you might see a backup blend with its file-name ending in blend1 or blend2, etc.
This part potentially sounds like you might have switched Blender versions? Or accidentally deleted your Blender’s AppData.
I dont remember deleting the file at all. And I havnt switched versions after I made the animation…
Perhaps you didn’t mark your animation action as a Fake User.
Any unused actions are usually deleted on next blend refresh or startup.
Notice the zero at the beginning of the action name in the screenshot below. This indicates that the Blender garbage collector is going to remove that data-block on next refresh or startup:
You can prevent this auto detection by simply enabling the shield icon near your action’s name:
This will give the data-block infinite life, so to speak, allowing you to not need to worry about its auto deletion next time you refresh or startup. That is, unless you want to delete it permanently, in which case you either disable the shield icon, or by doing SHIFT + LMB over the x icon.
