Hi
I got blender a couple of days ago and started with watching the tutorials at blender.org.
However when I am about to start the first real modeling tutorial the guy in the video finds a box called “mesh tools” in the editing panel. I can’t find it anywhere and I can’t find subdivide in any menu.
Please help!!!
Make sure you are in edit mode. You will see a bunch of buttons such as screw, spindup, and of course, subdivide. All this is in the editing tab, the little icon that looks like a square with 4 dots on the corners.
If you like hotkeys, F9 will take you to the editing panel that What Name? referenced. Also, in Edit mode, if you press W it will pop-up a menu that has Subdivide as the first option. One last item, some tutorials show the old Sub-Surface button in the editing panel. This has been replaced by the SubSurf modifier. You can find the Modifiers in the Editing panel (F9 again), just click Add Modifier and choose SubSurf. Or, you can press Ctrl and then number 1,2,3, or 4 on the number row. This will automatically add the SubSurf modifier and set the number of divisions to 1,2,3, or 4.
