I’m new to blender, so forgive me if my problem has a very basic solution. For some reason it won’t let me attach my blender file so I’ll try to explain it as well as I can.
I’m right at the end of a Youtube tutorial, and for some reason the space background image to my render won’t process properly whilst all of my other layers render fine. I think that all of my nodes are connected correctly.
The space background was rendering fine until I quit Blender and reopened my file. Maybe that has something to do with it? I’ve reloaded the environment texture but still no luck. Please say if you need more info as I may have explained this poorly.
I am a bit of a noob when it comes to nodes, but I would like to first point out that you may want to change your shading for the spaceship from ‘solid’ to ‘smooth’ over on the tool shelf. this will take care of the faceted look of your model. As to your compositing problem, I see you are compositing together two images, but in order for the background to show through, the top image needs an alpha channel. I think this may be the problem.
No, sorry, what I mean to say, is, the top image must be rendered with an alpha ( transparency ) channel, before compositing. Sorry if I was unclear. You will need to set to file type .png, and RGBA in output panel of render buttons to make such a render, and there is another setting, in the shading panel of render buttons, where you can change from the default ‘sky’ to ‘transparent’.
(edit) sorry I took so long to get back to this. I must have missed it.
(edit) ok, having another look I see I have misunderstood what is going on here. I should probably leave this to some one who has a better grasp of compositing nodes. feel free to bump this thread if you don’t get a satisfactory answer.
