Can't install/open any version of Blender on Mac

I recently purchased a new Mac - installed blender with no problems at all - Today I was installing an add-on (easy PBR) and when I chose the option to load material into library Blender froze. I waited a while but had to force quit.
Blender would not open again. All I got was ‘application not responding’. I tried it a few times but nothing changed. I deleted blender and the files from easy pbr and downloaded another version of blender.
The dmg file starts and I drag blender into applications folder but blender still won’t open.
I have tried different versions - updated my OS and checked online for answers.
I don’t have any blender folder/files in ‘application support’ file but have tried to create one etc but I am at a loss of what to do.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated - hope this isn’t too confusing.
Thank you.
MacOS Monterey 12.3.1 M1 Max - Sorry if this is not the correct place to ask

Hi.
You try renaming the user configuration folders for the versions of Blender you are using. For example if you use Blender 3.1, you would rename “3.1” folder to “3.1_old”
https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/advanced/blender_directory_layout.html#macos

Thanks, I’ll give that a try!
