Can't Link/Append a blend into my new blend

Hi guys

I am making a lightsaber and need to append it to my new .blend file. I can go and select what I want but the moment I hit Append/Link, it doesn’t import it into Blender

Make sure you append the object not the mesh.
It will also import it into the layer and position it was on in the original blend, this may be different to the layer and view you currently have showing.
Is the new object appearing in the outliner window
