Cant make Blender work on my iMac G5

Hi there,

Blender is part of the curriculum at my university for my Virtual Environments module, and im trying to install it on my home Mac which is a new G5 17", so i should have no problems with specs etc. However, when i have downloaded it and extracted it, blender is in a folder which is highlighted RED (I have never seen this before in OS X, what does it mean?) and when i attempt to run it the icon shoots out into the screen as normal but then the system just sits idle.

Anyone able to help?

Hi Stitch,

Had same problem. This is because Python 2.4 in not installed on your machine.

Either you can download Python 2.4 here : http://undefined.org/python/ or download Blender for Python 2.3 on Blender.org.

Hope it will help you.

Best Regards,

Now i can get on with making Gus come to life
