Can't map a seam on a ball

I am making a cricket ball it has a double stitched seam around it’s equator. I made the seam in paint and used texture repeat to cover the ball. But then I have to stencil the excess repeats that occur all over. I made a blend texture as a band but can’t work out how to map it. I wish there was a more visual way to map via coordinates.

did you check material repository

there is a basebal with seam there and other type of balls too!

might give you some ideas may be !

Thanks, i had to get this finished before I looked on line. Eventually I noticed that changing the influence type to colour allowed me to see the positioning of the blend texture. Then I turned off colour and turned on stencil, but made sure that RGB to Intensity is turned OFF. This was giving weird results and ignoring the alpha.

Then I found that I couldnt composite the animation over anything as my editor wont accept any keyed media Blender makes! (hate ffmpeg) And VSE wouldnt allow an alpha over of that scene (had weird add effect). So I rendered out a png sequence then brought it back into Nodes and comped there.
