cant plug comp into tv

i am trying to plug my computer into my tv.there is a s-video output on my computer, but only yellow+red inputs on my tv.so i found an adapter for s-video so i can plug it into the back of my computer, plug a yellow video cable into that then plug that into the tv.but it doesn’t work.i cant find a setting for that either.i have a gateway comp with P4 processor running win xp home with a NVIDIA GeForce MX/MX 400 video card.does anyone know how to help me?

I just installed an ATI X550 and it has a software option to force detection of TV.
Try looking at the software you maybe loaded to see if it has an option to turn TV on.

i cant find any software in it.

The video channel is on AV/ S-video input?

for the software, right click on desktop>properties>Settings. have a look in here there should be 2 displays one should be for your monitor and one should be for the TV.

if display 2 is kind of greyed (faded) it isnt picking the TV up, if this is the case i would test it on another PC or TV, if it works its teh cable

Hmm, I have a GeForce MX 440 and a regular s-video cable seems to be working fine… I don’t even have a second monitor activated. If I right click on the Nvidia system tray icon, go to nview display settings>Clone, I have TV+Analog display selected. Windows only shows one active monitor.
